Recoating

Not all floors require a complete re-sanding in order to be renewed. If you have cared for your floor properly we can do a recoating of the top finish layer so that your floors appearance is renewed. This process does a good job of removing most scratches from pets if the finish is not completely worn. The recoating process is not possible if you have used products such as Mop-n-Glo or any other wax-containing maintenance product.

There has been a surging demand for prefinished wood flooring in the last ten years or so. Unfortunately, many of the floors are sold with warranties that require complete wear through of the finish, which is highly unlikely. Normal wear and tear on a prefinished wood floor can leave refractive scratches in the finish. The scratches result in an impression in the many layers of finish, but are not covered by warranty. To further complicate the problem, if you want to refresh the appearance of your floor not all finishes will adhere to the floor. This is because of the extremely hard surface of the finish created by the aluminum oxide.
