We provide the following services at Modern Tech Floors

• Hardwood floor refinishing-We will sand, fill and apply finish to your hardwood floors. We work with a large variety of wood floor finishes and will thoroughly and objectively describe the pros and cons of all procedures and finishes to you. We prefer to address all customer questions and needs proactively and OBJECTIVELY in order to provide optimal service.

• Hardwood floor installation-We install and finish your hardwood floors on site at your home. This means we will remove carpet, handle baseboard removal and installation, and dispose of all jobsite trash promptly.

• Wood floor repairs- We will patch and repair areas of your floor that are pet damaged or need matching hardwood flooring installed. We have a great deal of experience working in older homes around Portland and know how to source material for consistently matching materials. You may view an example with photos on our blog.

• Fir Floor restoration-If you have an older home around Portland, we are specialists in restoring old growth fir floors. Here are a few primary considerations for a fill restoration.
  • All repairs must be done using salvaged flooring! Flooring from an off the shelf warehouse will not ever match. It is much too light in color and will stand out a lot.
  • Do you want the floor completely filled? If so, then there ARE fillers available that will fill relatively large gaps and stay. They require additional labor and material, but work very well.
  • Do you want long length repairs or will short length repairs be sufficient? The flooring in older homes was traditionally of a minimum of ten foot lengths. This means that for a repair to blend with the natural pattern of the old floor you must use more material at a slightly greater cost, but a much more historically accurate appearance.
